Joseph Henderson is currently the CDC Senior Management Official in New York State responsible for providing strategic oversight of all CDC interests in NYS. Previously, Mr. Henderson served as the Associate Director of Terrorism Preparedness and Response at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this capacity Mr. Henderson was responsible for all of CDC’s public health emergency preparedness and response activities - currently supported by a budget of $2.3 Billion. In the aftermath of September 11,2001 and the subsequent anthrax attacks, Mr. Henderson served as the Deputy Director of CDC’s Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program helping to coordinate CDC’s response efforts. Mr. Henderson has been with the CDC since 1992 and during that time served as the New York State Immunization Program Director, the Southeast Regional Consultant for the National Immunization Program, and the Team Leader for the National Immunization Registry Initiative for the National Immunization Program. Mr. Henderson spent 10 years in the United States Air Force managing a number of preventive medicine programs and supported the USAF’s medical response to nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare.

Mr. Henderson has a Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wilmington College.
