Esther Duflo is Abdul Latif Jameel Professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at MIT and the Director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab also at MIT. Her professional activities include Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER); Board Member, Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD); Director, Development Program, Center for Economic policy research (CEPR). She currently is the co-editor for the Journal of Development Economics. Professor Duflo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT and a Masters in Economics (DEA) from DELTA (Paris). In 2003 she was awarded the Elaine Benett prize for research, given by the American Economic Association to the best young woman in economics every 2 years. In 2005 she was awarded the Best Young French Economist Prize.
