Chris Combs Supervisory Special Agent Combs is currently a supervisor in the FBIHQ Domestic Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations Unit (WMDOU). WMDOU oversees all WMD investigations, conducts WMD threat assessments, incident assessments, and coordinates the response of FBI WMD specialty units.
As a field Special Agent, SSA Combs was a member of the FBI Washington Field Office (WFO) National Capital Response Squad (NCRS). The NCRS is a FBI special operations unit responsible for the coordination and response of all FBI crisis response capabilities within the National Capital Region. The NCRS is responsible for terrorism incidents and investigations such as bombings, WMD incidents, and Special Event Management. The NCRS is composed of bomb technicians, WMD specialists, and members of the FBI WFO Hazardous Materials Response Team, Evidence Response Team, and SWAT Team. SSA Combs was the Assistant WMD Coordinator for the FBI WFO.
On 9/11/2001, SSA Combs was the initial FBI Commander at the Pentagon and then became the FBI representative to Unified Command for the duration of the 9/11 Pentagon incident. SSA Combs was also the FBI representative to Unified Command at the U.S. Capital during the anthrax mail attacks of 2001.SSA Combs was a member of the Inter-Agency writing team that created the Initial National Response Plan (Initial NRP), the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the National Response Plan (NRP).
